Sick day
Logan woke up yesterday morning with the sniffles. I assumed that with the change in climate from Charlotte to NY, he likely got a cold. He didn’t complain much, so I bought a box of Puffs Plus for his nose, and we went about our way.
Last night, as I was putting him to bed, I noticed he felt really warm. So, I checked his temp, and he was running at about 100*. Out came the Motrin. Well, all of this was well and good until he decided to throw up about a half hour later. After a bath and a change of clothes, we got him back to bed about an hour and a half past his bedtime. The poor kid just visibly felt lousy.
I didn’t dare give him any more Motrin, because I didn’t know how much he got out of the first dose. By the time 11:00 rolled around, he was awake again, crying, and wound for sound. He’d play for a bit, then he’d cry. Then he’d play, then he’d cry. I tried to get him to drink some water – he had no part of it. I tried to dose him with Motrin – he ran the other way. So, I gave in and just let him curl up with me on the couch. At about 11:30, I finally convinced him, begrudgingly, to take his Motrin. He dozed off just about midnight.
We went to bed shortly after he fell asleep. He quickly crawled up into bed with us. He stayed in bed with us all night, and woke up on average every half hour. He was unhappy, uncomfortable, and just generally feeling like crap. This morning, through very tired eyes, he asked for juice. YAY!! He’s drinking something. We’ve since knocked out a couple of small amounts of juice, a piece of toast and some goldfish crackers. And, he got his morning dose of Motrin hidden in his first cup of juice.
He seems to be visibly better. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that his fever doesn’t spike again when the Motrin wears down. I guess we will have to wait it out.
